Photographe Professionnelle (Carte de presse n° 107848)

©Wallendorff

À ton actif, tu as…

Who are you, Marion?
I’m a small and curly-haired photographer, I was born on the 5 of October 1976 in Sèvres. I live in Paris with my pirate cat.

Any particular sign?
I can often be seen with a camera around my neck, I have two tattoos and I sleep, shower and go to the beach with my Doc Martens shoes. Fear for your toes if you cross my path in the photographers’ pit (the designated area between the stage and the audience where professionals elbow each other and play with their big lenses).

Your school career?
A master’s degree of photography at Paris 8 University. Two years at the London College of Printing where I swear I didn’t just visit the local pubs.

Your professional career?
I’ve worked for the magazine Addict, then for Rock Sound and since 2004, I’ve joined the ranks of Rock&Folk, the oldest rock magazine in France. I’ve also photographed our dear politicians, so, yes, in case you’re wondering, I’m a woman of many talents !

Your professional trump card?
I can improvise a photo shoot in five minutes in hostile conditions (at midnight, outside, with a plastered band, etc.). I’m a Photoshop pro.

Your specialty?
Gig photos, including those taken in extreme conditions, such as muddy festivals and dimly lit shabby clubs. Photojournalism.
Rock’n’roll girls for my exhibitions, too.

Your best photo shoot?
Fall Out Boy in Los Angeles in 2006, even though the band thought they’d look like superstars by showing up super late.

Your best photo?
Natasha, lead singer of French band AS Dragon at the Gibus club in 2005.

Your worst nightmare of a photo shoot?
Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe at the Transmusicales festival in Rennes who asked for an outdoor photo shoot, at night, in a freezing temperature instead of posing cosily in his hotel room.

You’ve already shot…
Iggy Pop, AC/DC, Tina Turner, Madonna, Iron Maiden during their tour in Brazil, PJ Harvey, U2, Police, the whole Parisian neo rock’n’roll scene, the Fiery Furnaces, Of Montreal, Heavy Trash and many more who’ll be upset when they won’t see their name here. Sorry, guys !

You’d love to photograph…
Michael Jackson who had the lousy idea of leaving the building before I had a chance. The Rolling Stones, Françoise Hardy, Charlotte Gainsbourg. And one day, I’d love to do a beautiful portrait of Philippe Manœuvre (editor in chief of Rock&Folk magazine and TV personality) and Iggy Pop.

So, when will you publish your first book?
Soon, I’m thinking of it… And working on it !

Many thanks to my friend and journalist Isabelle Chelley for the bio
